Level 2 Home Helper course
I decided to take a part-time job as a care worker. Before that, I enrolled in a training course for visiting care workers and caregivers at facilities, known at the time as the Level 2 Home Helper course. Although this qualification was not strictly required to work as a caregiver, it provided some preferential treatment in terms of hourly wages. Therefore, I chose to complete the course. However, taking the course was not free—I had to pay a fee, which I found quite expensive. I requested information from several well-known home helper training programs and considered where to enroll. After reviewing my bank balance, I chose the most affordable option. Even so, the course cost several tens of thousands of yen (several hundred dollars), making it a decision that, in my mind, required real determination—almost like a "do or die" situation.

ヘルパー２級講座（1）
介護職としてアルバイトをすることにしたわけですが、その前に、当時ホームヘルパー２級講座と呼ばれていた、訪問介護員や施設での介護職員を養成するための研修を受けることにしました。この資格は、実際に介護職として仕事をするために、当時は必ずしも必須の資格ではなかったのですが、持っていると時給の面でも多少は優遇されていたので、受講することにしました。しかし受講することにしたとは言っても、タダで受講することはできません。もちろん受講料を払わなければならないのですが、この受講料がとても高いと思いました。名前が知れ渡っていたいくつかの有名なヘルパー養成講座から資料を取り寄せて、どこで受講するか、一応検討してみたのですが、銀行の残高のことを考えて、結局受講料が一番安いところで受けることにしました。それでも数万円かかったので、私の心の中では、いわば“背水の陣”とでもいうような、ちょっとした覚悟がいる決断だったと思います。
