Level 2 Home Helper course (2)

The Level 2 Helper course I took at the time followed the curriculum set by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, with a total of 130 hours required for completion. However, because the tuition was cheaper than other training programs, the lecture portion (equivalent to 52 hours) was a correspondence course. I read the textbook at home, worked through the exercises, mailed the answer sheets, and received corrections. The practical training portion (48 hours) involved attending classes to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for nursing care. The remaining 30 hours were spent applying what we learned in real-world settings, such as nursing care facilities. I completed the lecture portion at home between June and July 2010. Then, in August, I began attending practical training classes in Tokyo, held mainly on weekdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
