Looking for a part-time job
At the end of September 2010, after receiving my certificate of completion for the Level 2 Home Helper qualification, I decided to look for a part-time job on a nursing care job information website. In the Level 2 Home Helper course, I had learned—albeit briefly—what care work entails. Additionally, at the nursing home where my grandmother was staying, I had spoken with care staff and observed their work from a distance. Therefore, I had a general idea of what the job involved. However, even back then, care work was known to be very demanding, and the issue of caregivers leaving their jobs was widely discussed. In reality, therefore, I had no real sense of just how tough it truly was.

アルバイト探し
平成22年9月末に、ヘルパー2級の修了証明書を受け取ると、介護関係の求人情報サイトでアルバイト先を探すことにしました。ヘルパー2級課程で、介護という仕事がどういうものかを、触り程度ではありましたが実際に学んできましたし、また、祖母が入所していた有料老人ホームで、介護職員と話をしたり、その仕事の内容を遠くから目にすることもあったりしたので、仕事の内容については大体見当がついていました。しかし当時から、介護の仕事はとても大変だということは言われていましたし、介護職員の離職が問題として盛んに取り上げられていたと思います。なので、実際のところ、どれほど介護という仕事が大変なのかということについては、まったく見当がつきませんでした。
