Even so, one nursing home and one day service provider agreed to interview me. I do not remember exactly what questions I was asked, but I do recall that during the nursing home interview, a chief care staff member, who interviewed me alongside the facility's head, asked, "Miyo-san, what dreams do you have in elderly care?" I believe I answered something like, "I applied because I would like to contribute in some way to an aging society." However, to be honest, I have forgotten exactly what I said and do not really remember. However, even though the shortage of care workers was expected to become even more severe as the aging population continued to grow, the chief care staff's question about my "dream in elderly care" seems somewhat off-point in retrospect. Still, since it was my first interview for a part-time care worker position, I decided not to dwell on it too much. Instead, I provided a neutral response and moved on.
In the end, I received job offers from both facilities that interviewed me. However, I decided to work part-time at the nursing home that responded to me first. Later, I had a dispute with the chief care staff member who had attended my interview alongside the facility's head, but I will discuss that later.

それでも、介護付き有料老人ホーム1社とデイサービス事業所1社が面接をしてくれることになりました。面接の場でどのような質問を受けたか、もうあまり覚えていないのですが、介護付き有料老人ホームでの面接のときに、施設長と一緒に私の面接をしてくださった介護主任の方が、「三代さんは、介護に対してどのような夢をもっていますか？」と質問してくださったことを覚えています。「高齢社会の到来に対して、私も何がしかの寄与ができればと思って応募しました」といったようなことを答えたのではないかと思うのですが、しかし正直なところ忘れてしまって、覚えていません。ただ、今後高齢化の波がさらに押し寄せてくるなかで、介護職員の不足がさらに深刻になることが予期されていたにもかかわらず、“介護に対する夢”を尋ねてきた介護主任のこの質問は、今から思えば、やや的外れのような気がしますが、それでも初めての介護職としてのアルバイト面接だったので、あまり深入りせずに、当たり障りのないことを答えてその場を終えることにしたと思います。
結局、面接してくれた2社からは、採用との返事をいただいたのですが、先に採用の返事をくれた介護付き有料老人ホームでアルバイトすることにしました。施設長とともに、私の面接に立ち会ってくださった介護主任の方とは、その後揉めることになりますが、それについては後述したいと思います。
