This is a digression, but after that, I applied for part-time care work on several occasions. However, the national qualification of psychiatric social worker was rarely taken into consideration in the field of elderly care. I had pursued the qualification because I was concerned with how to help elderly people with dementia live happily in their communities. However, I got the impression that, in the field of elderly care, there was little demand for staff who approached care work from the perspective of supporting community living for elderly people with dementia. After all, the field of elderly care is largely dominated by physical care. I believe that, within the framework of the current long-term care insurance system, little attention is given to providing care from a social worker's perspective. As I have often discussed, I believe the limitations of this system of elderly care—especially in regard to welfare and care for elderly people with dementia—are evident here as well.

ここからは余談ですが、以後再び介護職としてアルバイトに応募することがたびたびあったのですが、精神保健福祉士という国家資格は、高齢者介護の世界では、ほとんど顧みられることはありませんでした。私は、特に認知症高齢者が地域で幸せに暮らしていけるためにはどうしたらいいのかという問題意識から精神保健福祉士というソーシャルワーカーとしての資格を目指してきたわけですが、高齢者介護の世界では、認知症高齢者の地域社会での生活という観点を持って介護の仕事に従事する職員は、必要とされていないのではないかという印象を持つことになりました。やはり介護の世界では身体介護がもっぱらであり、高齢者介護においてソーシャルワーカー的な視点を持って介護というケアワークを行うということは、現行の介護保険制度の枠組みの中では、ほとんど考慮されていないのではないかと思います。これまでたびたび論じてきましたが、高齢者介護、特に認知症高齢者の福祉・介護における介護保険制度の限界がここにも現れているのではないかと思います。
