Comparing group homes
I ended up working about one day a week at a group home located within the same facility as the paid nursing home G, where I had previously worked. The head of the facility who had invited me initially seemed to want me to work at the paid nursing home, which was extremely short-staffed. However, I had previously worked at the group home for elderly people with dementia E in downtown Tokyo, and I also wanted to stay grounded in thinking about what kind of society would allow elderly people with dementia to live happily. For that reason, I chose to work at the group home for elderly people with dementia instead of the paid nursing home.

グループホームの比較
以前勤務していた有料老人ホームGと同じ施設内にあったグループホームで、週1日程度で働くことになりました。私を誘ってくれた施設長の思惑としては、最初のうちは、職員が非常に不足していた有料老人ホームで働いてもらいたかったようなのですが、これまで都心の認知症対応型グループホームで働いていたこともありましたし、また認知症高齢者が幸せに暮らしていけるような社会を、現場の中で考えていきたいという希望も持っていたので、有料老人ホームではなく認知症対応型グル－プホームでの勤務にさせていただきました。
