Care skills training
The 28th National Examination for Certified Care Workers, which I took in 2015 (Heisei 27), was divided into a written exam and a practical exam. The written exam covered subjects such as human dignity and independence, human relationships and communication, understanding of society, the basics of elderly care, communication skills, life support skills, the care process, understanding of development and aging, understanding of dementia, understanding of disabilities, the workings of the mind and body, and case-based comprehensive questions. Unlike the national examination for certified psychiatric social workers, the written exam for certified care workers was held on a single day rather than over two days. However, it was still divided into a morning session and an afternoon session. For the practical exam, only those who passed the written exam were issued an examinee card at a later date. In other words, if we did not pass the written exam, we were not allowed to take the practical exam. In the written exam, the passing standard was approximately 60% of the total score, and candidates were required to score points in all the subject areas designated by the Exam Center. In other words, just like the national examination for certified psychiatric social workers, we could not simply give up on subjects we were weak in—we had to study all areas at least once. The passing standard for the practical exam was also around 60% of the total score.

介護技術講習
私が受験した2015（平成27）年度の第28回介護福祉士国家試験は、筆記試験と実技試験に分かれていました。筆記試験では、人間の尊厳と自立、人間関係とコミュニケーション、社会の理解、介護の基本、コミュニケーション技術、生活支援技術、介護過程、発達と老化の理解、認知症の理解、障害の理解、こころとからだのしくみ、事例形式で出題される総合問題といった試験科目についてテストされました。筆記試験は、精神保健福祉士国家試験のように2日にわたることはなく、1日で済みましたが、それでも午前のテストと午後のテストに分かれていました。実技試験については、筆記試験合格者に対して、後日実技試験受験票が交付されることになっていました。つまり、筆記試験を通過できなければ、実技試験を受けることができないということになります。筆記試験では、問題の総得点の60%程度を合格基準とし、試験センターが定めたすべての科目群について得点があったものということでした。つまり、精神保健福祉士国家試験と同様に、苦手とする試験科目を捨てることはできず、一応一通りはすべての領域を勉強しなければなりませんでした。実技試験の合格基準については、これも課題の総得点の60%程度とされていました。
