Well, when I tried to submit my application, the Human Resources department was slow to issue the necessary documents, and I even ended up having to send a content-certified registered letter. Although I continued to have such unpleasant experiences, I somehow managed to obtain my care worker certification. The meaning of a certification may differ from person to person, but to me, it serves as proof that I worked in the field as a care worker for more than three years. It feels like a certificate of my practical experience as a care worker. Obtaining certification as a certified care worker does not necessarily make the job any easier. However, when we say we are certified care workers, others will understand that we have at least three years of experience in the field. To me, this certification serves as a kind of résumé in the field of elderly care—nothing more, nothing less.

まあ、願書を提出するときに、人事部がなかなか必要な書類を発行してくれなかったり、内容証明郵便を私が実際に送りつけるような事態にまでいたってしまったりと、あいかわらず不愉快な思いを味わい続けていましたが、なんとか介護福祉士の資格を取得することができました。資格が持つ意味は人それぞれ違うものなのでしょうが、私にとっては、介護職として現場で一応3年以上勤務してきたことを証明してくれる、いわば介護職としての実務経験証明証のようなものだろうと思います。介護福祉士の資格をとったからといって、仕事が楽になるわけではありませんが、介護福祉士ですといえば、一応この人は現場で3年以上介護職をしてきた人なのだとわかってもらえることになります。なので、私にとって介護福祉士という資格は介護の世界における履歴書のようなもので、それ以上のものでも、それ以下のものでもありません。
