Comparing group homes
Although group homes are generally referred to under the same name, each facility had its own unique characteristics. Having worked as a care worker in three different group homes, I came to recognize not only the distinct features of each facility but also the strengths and weaknesses of the group homes I had worked in. Of course, the philosophy of elderly care promoted by the company or organization operating the group home may have an influence, but I believe the influence of the staff working at the facility—especially the floor leaders—is also highly significant. Whether for better or worse, I felt that the atmosphere of the workplace is shaped by the kind of group home the leader envisions.

グループホームの比較
一口にグループホームといっても、それぞれの事業所でそれぞれ特徴があり、私のように3つのグループホームで介護職として勤務してくると、その事業所の特徴だけでなく、これまで勤務してきたグループホームの良かった所、悪かったところなどが、改めて感じられることとなりました。もちろん、そのグループホームを運営している企業や団体などが掲げていた高齢者介護に対する理念のようなものも影響しているのかもしれないのですが、やはり、その施設で働いている職員、特にフロア・リーダーの影響力がとても大きいのではないかと思います。良い、悪いは別にして、そのリーダーがどのようなグループホームにしたいと考えているのかということが、その職場の雰囲気を形作っているように思いました。
