As I mentioned earlier, most of the care workers there were housewives, so they were probably experts at this kind of housework and seemed to handle it efficiently. I was a man with little common sense, wandering around among them—so, well, I suppose it was only natural that they wanted to point things out in detail. Since I had lived alone for a long time, many of the comments made by these veteran housewives felt a bit too detailed for someone like me. Below, I would like to list the tasks I performed during the day and night shifts at this group home. Of course, similar tasks were carried out to varying degrees at the other elderly care facilities where I had worked in the past, so this group home was by no means unique. However, I received a lot of detailed guidance from the staff there, which is why this list has become a bit long-winded. Of course, we must protect the personal information of the residents, so I have only listed general tasks that would typically be carried out at most elderly care facilities. Please consider these to be the bare minimum, as they are general duties not directly related to personal care.

先ほども述べましたが、ほとんどの介護職員は家庭の主婦が主だったので、このような家事仕事はお手のものだったでしょうし、皆さんテキパキとこなしていたように見受けられました。このような職員に混じって、私のような、常識のあまりない男性がトロトロとうろついていたのですから、まあ、いろいろとご指摘を受けることになると思います。やっぱり、男の一人暮らしが長かったこともあり、このようなベテランの主婦からなる職員の方々からいただいた指摘の多くは、私のようなものには、少し細かすぎるように思いました。以下に、このグループホームで行ってきた日勤帯の業務と夜勤帯の業務をそれぞれ掲げておきたいと思います。もちろん、これまで勤務してきた介護事業所でも、大なり小なり似たような業務が行われていたので、このグループホームだけがどうこうということは全くないのですが、ただ、ここの職員の方々から、細かくいろいろな指導を受けたこともあり、ちょっと長文になってしまいました。もちろん、利用者の個人情報などについては守秘しなければならないので、ほとんどの介護事業所で行われているような、当たり障りのないところだけを掲げておきたいと思います。あくまでも利用者のケアとは直接関わりのない一般的な業務なので、ミニマムなものとお考えください。
