Care manager exam preparation
If I failed to pass that year, I would lose my eligibility to take the exam for some time, so I was eager to pass the Care Manager Practical Training Exam and register as a care manager within that year. I had prepared for the exam on my own by purchasing workbooks and other study materials. However, since I was working part-time at a group home and my senior care workers pressured me by saying it would be difficult to pass the exam on the first try, I decided to make special preparations for the care manager exam. At the time, I was a member of an association of certified care workers in Tokyo, and I decided to take a test preparation course for the Care Manager Practical Training Exam that the association offered. Although I received a small discount on the course fee as a member, the cost was still substantial. Nevertheless, I found the course very helpful. The veteran instructor concisely summarized the key points targeted in the care manager exam, which enabled me to grasp the big picture of the long-term care insurance system and care management in a short time. The textbook used in this preparation course, 『ケアマネジャー試験ワークブック2017』 (workbook for care manager exam 2017), published by Chuohoki Publishing, also summarized the key points in a concise manner, which I found very useful.

ケアマネ試験対策
この年で合格できなければ、またしばらくの間、受験資格が与えられなくなってしまうため、ぜひこの年のうちに介護支援専門員実務研修受講試験に合格し、介護支援専門員としての登録を果たしておきたいと思うようになっていました。自分でも、ワークブックなどを購入して受験の準備をしてきたのですが、パートながらグループホームで勤務していましたし、なかなか一度の試験で合格することは難しいと先輩介護職員から脅されていたこともあって、今回のケアマネ試験については、特別な準備をすることにしました。私は当時、東京都介護福祉士会に所属していましたが、その介護福祉士会が行っていた、ケアマネジャー実務研修受講試験のための受験対策講座を受講することにしました。受講料は会員だったこともあって多少割引もあったとは思いますが、それでも少なからぬ費用を支払って、受講しました。しかしこれがとても役に立ったと思います。ベテランの講師が、ケアマネ試験で狙われるような重要なポイントを、とても要領よくまとめてくれたので、介護保険制度やケアマネジメントに関する大きな流れを、短時間のうちに把握することができました。この対策講座で使われていた、中央法規出版から出版されていたテキスト『ケアマネジャー試験ワークブック2017』も、重要ポイントをとてもコンパクトにまとめてくれていて、とても役に立ったと思います。
