The care manager exam was scheduled for October, but in August I took a unified mock exam hosted by a publishing company to prepare. We sat for the mock exam at a venue just like the real test, and afterwards a professional instructor explained the answers to the questions. The test results arrived by mail a few days later. With about two months remaining until the actual exam, my performance was nationally ranked 161st out of 743 participants, and my evaluation was rank B. At that point, there was a large gap between the areas I did well in and those I did poorly in, so I was unable to reach rank A. In my case, my scores were low in the health, medical, and welfare services section, and in particular, my score in the comprehensive section on knowledge of health and medical services was extremely low. From then on, I decided to focus my studies on the areas where I had performed especially poorly in the period leading up to the actual exam. Even though it had been years since I graduated from school, I could not help but chuckle at the thought of taking mock exams, just like we did in middle and high school. However, I found it very useful for identifying my weak areas. I think it was quite an effective method, especially for care workers who are short on time.

ケアマネ試験は10月に行われることになっていましたが、その前の8月に、試験対策として、ある出版社が主催したケアマネ統一模擬試験を受けてもみました。まさに、本番そのままに試験会場で実際に模擬試験を受けるのですが、そのあとに、テストの解答の解説を専門の講師が行っていくというものでした。テストの結果が何日か後になって郵送されてくるのですが、試験本番まで2か月程の時点での私の実力は、全国順位としては161位（743人中）であり、評価はBランクでした。この時点では、取れているところと取れていないところのバラツキが大きかったこともあり、Aランクには至りませんでした。私の場合は、保健医療福祉サービス分野での得点が低く、特に保健医療サービスの知識等・総合の領域の得点率が極端に低いことがわかり、以後試験本番までの間は、特に得点率が低かった領域に重点を置いて勉強して行くことになりました。学校を卒業してから何年もたっていますが、それにもかかわらず、中学生や高校生の時のように模擬試験を受けなければならないことに、苦笑を抑えることはできませんでしたが、しかし、実際に自分の苦手教科や弱点を把握する上ではとても役にたったと思います。特に時間のない介護職の方々にとっては、極めて有効な手段だったのではないかと思いました。
