Care Manager Practical Training
The 20th Tokyo Metropolitan Care Manager Practical Training offered several schedules, depending on the date, training venue, and whether the course was in-person or correspondence. I was assigned to take the correspondence course, which ran from January to March 2018 (Heisei 30) and included preparatory study using DVDs. The training course was divided into two semesters, with a three-day internship at an in-home care support provider taking place over about one month between the two semesters. During the internship, participants shadowed an instructor, learned about the practical aspects of care management, created care plans as required assignments, and prepared for the second semester of training. In both the first and second semesters, care manager candidates were required to submit three take-home reports based on their DVD study. In addition, they attended five days of on-site training at a designated venue, where they took part in care management practice sessions. Excluding the practical training at the in-home care support provider on the basic techniques of care management, the total training time was 87 hours. The training not only required a significant time commitment, but also cost 52,800 yen (as of 2018), including the price of the textbook—by no means a low expense.

介護支援専門員実務研修
第20回東京都介護支援専門員実務研修は、日程や研修会場、通学コースか通信コースかによって、いくつか日程が異なっていましたが、私の場合は、通信コースとなり、DVD視聴による事前学習を含めて、2018（平成30）年1月から3月までの、3か月に渡って行われました。前期と後期に分かれ、前期と後期の間の1か月ほどの間に、3日間の介護支援事業所での実習が行われ、実習指導者の後ろに従ってケアマネジメントの実際を学びながら、課題となっていたケアプランを作成して、後期の研修に備える期間とされていました。前期、後期ともに、自宅でのDVD学習によるレポートの作成が3回ずつあり、それだけでなく、実際に会場に足を運んでケアマネジメントに関する演習を重ねる日が5日間ずつありました。ケアマネジメントの基礎技術に関する介護支援事業所での実習を除いて、トータルすると87時間に及ぶ研修ということになります。研修にかかる膨大な時間だけでなく、研修の受講料も、研修テキスト代などを含めて52,800円にもなり（2018年当時）、少なからざる費用が必要となりました。
