What do you think about the reality that caring for the elderly is already a demanding task, and yet we are forced to rely on the elderly themselves for this work? Given the difficult social situation in which elderly people care for one another at home—and despite efforts to support care within the community—the socialization of care has also produced circumstances where the elderly are caring for other elderly people in need. It must certainly be a cause for celebration to see healthy elderly people playing active roles. But to be honest, I am also left feeling uncertain about whether we should simply accept this, and I cannot help but wonder what on earth this reality means. Are the national and local governments even aware of this situation? To me, it seems that we have already passed a critical point—but what do you think?

ただでさえ高齢者を介護するという仕事は大変なのに、それを高齢者に頼らなければならないという現実をみなさんはどうお考えになるでしょうか。在宅においては老老介護という困難な社会的状況があるということもあって、地域で高齢者介護を支えていこうとしているにもかかわらず、その介護の社会化においても、高齢者による要介護者の介護という状況が生み出されているわけです。元気な高齢者が活躍されることはとても喜ばしいことには違いないのですが、この現実は一体なんなのだろうと釈然としない気持ちも正直に言ってあります。このような状況を、国や自治体は把握できているのでしょうか？ 結構行き着くところまで来てしまったように私には思われるのですが、みなさんはどう思われるでしょうか？
