Prior to the interviews, in early February 2018, I provided Mr. and Mrs. A with a document that briefly explained the purpose and outline of the study, along with a questionnaire designed to gather basic information about their past. I did this because I felt they might need a few days to recall their experiences and to form a clearer picture of them. A few days later, I also gave them a list of the topics and questions that would be covered in the interview so that they could prepare their responses in advance.
On the days of the interviews, I collected data through semi-structured interviews, following the questions listed in the document I had provided to them in advance. At the same time, I made sure that they were able to speak as comfortably and freely as possible. With their permission, all interview conversations were digitally recorded on a personal computer and transcribed verbatim. The interview with Mrs. A was conducted on February 6, 2018, and the interview with Mr. A on February 11, 2018. Each interview was planned to last approximately one hour.

インタビューに先立って、2018年2月初旬に、この研究の目的と概要を手短に説明した文書、および彼らの昔を手短に調査する質問紙をA夫妻に手渡しました。これは、彼らが昔を思い出し、それらの詳細なイメージを準備するためには数日必要とするかもしれないと考えたためです。数日後、彼らがそれぞれの質問についての答えを準備できるように、インタビューで尋ねることになっている項目を記述した文書を、あらかじめ手渡しておくことにしました。
インタビュー当日には、前もって彼らに手渡しておいた文書に記述されていた質問項目に従って、半構造化インタビューを介してデータを生成しました。しかしながら、私はまた同時に、彼らができるだけ快適に、かつ自由に話すことができるように配慮しました。許可を得て、インタビューの中で語られた会話はすべてパーソナル・コンピューターによってデジタル的に記録し、逐語録を作成しました。インタビューは、A夫人については2018年2月6日、A氏については2018年2月11日に行いました。それぞれのインタビューは、およそ1時間を目安に行いました。
