The Danube River Project
Since I had traveled all the way to Europe, even though it was for research purposes, I wanted to spend at least one day wandering around. I wanted to visit somewhere nice within a day's trip from Munich, Germany, so I decided to extend my trip from Munich to the banks of the Danube River. If I remember correctly, I found the church while flipping through a guidebook and realized that I wanted to visit a church built on a cliff overlooking the banks of the Danube. When I was staying in the UK, I was captivated by the architectural beauty of the churches in Edinburgh. During this visit to Munich, I also saw the famous large church with two towers, each topped with an onion dome, which left a strong impression on me. Perhaps that is why I felt drawn to visit a church standing quietly on the banks of the Danube.

ドナウ川計画
研究のためとはいえ、せっかくヨーロッパを訪れているので、一日ぐらい余裕をもってどこかをブラブラとしたいと思っていました。ドイツのミュンヘンから日帰りできるくらいのところで、どこか良いところを旅してみたいと思い、ミュンヘンからドナウ川のほとりまで足を伸ばしてみることにしました。はっきりとしたことはもう覚えていないのですが、ガイドブックをいろいろと調べてみて、ドナウ川に沿った崖に建つ教会を訪れてみたかったと記憶しています。イギリスに滞在していた時も、エジンバラにある教会の建築美に魅かれるものがありましたし、今回ミュンヘンに滞在している間に、ミュンヘンでも有名なタマネギ型の丸屋根を持つ2つの塔がある大きな教会を訪れて、とても印象に残っていたので、ドナウ川沿いにひっそりと建つ教会を訪れてみたかったのだろうと思います。
